About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Entry-level Ramp Assistant to join our dynamic and growing team.
This is an ideal role for someone looking to kick-start their career in aviation. With full training provided, you’ll gain hands-on experience across a range of ramp and flight activities while developing valuable industry skills in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting to the Base and Contract Manager, you’ll join a close-knit team where you’ll play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient and smooth running of operations at the base.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Assist with the preparation and loading/unloading of aircraft for daily flight operations.
- Assist with fuelling operations, including rotors running refuelling and ensure fuel quality control and fuel sampling.
- Assist with passenger escort, safety briefing, and loading/unloading of passengers.
- Monitor passenger behaviour and report any safety or security concerns.
- Acceptance and manifesting of cargo/freight.
- Handle baggage and freight in accordance with safe manual handling practices and company procedures.
- Ensuring that all passengers are wearing lifejackets and that these are correctly fitted prior to embarkation.
- Assist with safe loading and securing of baggage and cargo aboard the helicopter.
- Support aircraft loading activities to ensure weight and balance requirements are met and freight and passengers are properly secured.
- Assist with base audits as required.
- Assist with base mobilisations as required, including deployments, cyclone response, and emergency evacuations
- Wash, clean and polish aircrafts
- Assist with monitoring, maintaining, and operating base ground support equipment (tugs, forklifts, fuel systems).
- Support stock control and management of consumables, PPE, and other items essential to the ramp attendant role.
- Confirm security of all doors after passenger boarding and conduct external security check of the helicopter prior to aircraft start up.
- Conduct fire watch duties on start and until helicopter is clear of the heliport.
- Assist in the efficient management of ramp operations to ensure flights depart on time and report reasons for delays to flight following or direct line supervisor.
- Maintain ramp FOD control and general housekeeping and cleanliness in and around base/hangar to ensure a safe work and operational environment.
- Operate base support equipment to include aircraft tug/tractor and forklift in support of daily flight operations.
- Assist Engineering in movement and towing of aircraft.
- Perform the cleaning, inspection, certification, tracking, documentation, inventory control, and ongoing management of all passenger and crew life jackets.
- Other tasks as directed by the Base and Contracts Manager
