About the role
The HR Manager- APAC is responsible for providing effective HR Support to the PHI APAC business, reporting to the Director of HR- APAC. In collaboration with the Director of HR, The HR Manager will ensure maintenance of all HR functions including employee/ industrial relations and people performance. This will be achieved in alignment with PHI APAC's vision and strategic HR objectives.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Provide HR advice and support to all levels of the PHI APAC business.
- Lead HR improvement initiatives and projects as agreed with the Director of HR.
- Proactively identify other people related areas where PHI could improve and enhance performance.
- Lead company compliance with governmental and labour legal requirements across all jurisdictions and maintain minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
- Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
- Other tasks as directed by your manager from time to time.
- Formulate and recommend human resources policies and objectives for the company with regard to employee relations.
- Ensure that policies are published, reviewed, and updated as the needs of the business develop.
- Ensure the policies and processes are legally compliant in all jurisdictions and followed and utilised throughout PHI.
- Provide advice and support on all ER/IR matters and ensure that PHI complies with employment related legislation.
- Implement cost effective and practical solutions to HR issues that arise.
- Play an active role in investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
- Monitor and advise managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company. Monitor the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees.
- Review and provide guidance for management recommendations for employment terminations.
- Be involved in enterprise bargaining employment negotiation processes.
- Proactively foster a functional working relationship with unions.
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualification in HR or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar corporate role
- A sound knowledge of best practice in HR.
- Generalist HR experience across all or most facets, preferably with commercial acumen.
- Brings both strategic and tactical experience.
- Experience in delivering a sound Industrial Relations strategy and conducting negotiations.
- Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organisational planning, organisation development, employee relations, safety, and training and development. Preferable across multiple jurisdictions, including New Zealand and Australia.
